We have made it our business to learn everything we can about raccoons so that we fully understand their habits, lifestyles, breeding patterns and behavior.

Let’s start by dispelling a few myths about raccoons:

Raccoon repellent Toronto

There is no 100% effective raccoon repellent – once you have a pregnant female setting up nest in your premises she is likely to stay there for 8-9 months until her young have been born, grown and are ready to lead an independent life – and by then she is probably about to give birth to a second litter!

Some raccoon repellents that are based on the scent of male raccoons may occasionally work if they are applied to the nesting area early enough in the pregnancy to scare away the female – but this is never a sure thing and by the time you are aware that you have a resident raccoon it may be too late.

Ultrasonic sound repellents are absolutely ineffective – better not to waste your money.

Frightened female raccoons will abandon their young

Absolutely not! Female raccoons have very strong maternal instincts and will return from as far away as 10 miles to search for their young. This is why it is so very important to remove both the female and her offspring together – and then take effective measures to prevent another raccoon from getting back in at the same entry/exit point.

The maternal instinct is also a very good reason why you should call in Sande Wildlife Control experts to assist with raccoon control and removal. Female raccoons that are separated from their offspring can be very aggressive and may attack. Of course not all raccoons carry rabies but they may have roundworm or other parasite pests and bites can be nasty and take a while to heal.

At Sande Wildlife Removal of Toronto we will physically remove young raccoon babies and place them outside of their den for the mother to re-locate elsewhere. The entry point will either be sealed off or a one-way door will be installed to lock the adult raccoons out.

We will then close off all entry and exit points (using steel bolts and wire mesh where necessary) to prevent other raccoons and different wildlife intruders from getting back in.

If you live in Whitby, Ajax, Richmond Hill, Markham, King City, Caledon, Thornhill, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Scarborough, Maple, Stouffville, Etobicoke, Pickering or any other areas of Toronto and the GTA and would like to find out more, we invite you to call our expert raccoon trapping, removal, relocation and control team at Sande Wildlife Control and we will do all we can to assist and eliminate your unwelcome house guest!

We can also humanely trap and remove raccoons that are making nightly visits and messing up your garbage cans and/or tearing up your backyard.
